Basecamp for Mac not detecting GPSMap67i inReach devices

Garmin Leslie you are closing all the threads down with GPSmap67 questions as not inReach as far as I can see the issues are exactly the same for the GPSMap67i inreach models with exactly the same issues.
The GPSMap67i inReach model in system settings - usb mode has exactly the same options as the GPSMap67 i.e either MTP or Garmin, I have also tried a GPSMap67i at work and cannot get Basecamp software on a Mac to recognise the device, MTP usb setting on a Mac does not work with Basecamp software on a Mac, will you be adding Garmin Serial to the usb settings on the GPSMap67i that does work with the GPSMap66i and Basecamp for Mac ?

I have the same problem. GPSMap 67i won't be recognized by Basecamp. I've tried to open Basecamp first and then plug in 67i. It would popup for a few Seconds in basecamp, but then vanish.

Hi Alex you need to report to Garmin that MTP not supported by Mac and Basecamp and 67i needs Garmin serial added as an option which works with the predecessor the GPSMap66i with Basecamp for Mac fine, currently GPSMap67i in system settings - usb settings does not have an option for Garmin serial.

But the support ticket is likely to be more effective. The more people who complain, the more likely it is to get fixed…

It seems that only one application can access the device when connected via USB. Do you have Garmin Express running in the background? If so try to quit Express and then start Basecamp. That is how I got Basecamp to recognize the device on my Mac.

Hi, i just found a "way to" "solve" the pb. I am on OS 12.6.4

- Close all garmin apps (for ex Garmin Express). Not just the window, close the apps

- disconnect you garmin device

- open basecamp

- then, connect your 67i (setting on MTP)

and it works ... that s a miracle :)

My Mac is not reading the device at all. I looked all over the place says it should detect it as a drive but I get nothing. A little frustrating.

Mac will not show the device as a drive in Finder because the GPSMAP 67 series uses MTP and MacOS does not support that very well.

Any documentation you find saying otherwise on Mac most probably applies to devices using mass storage mode. The GPSMAP 67 series does not support mass storage mode.
