Map Updates was fast until 54%, now it doesn't want to download

I connected my 66i to Garmin Express and there was a map update waiting to be installed. I click install and it goes nicely about 5Mbps. But at some point it slow down and even without VPN, connected to WIFI (before it was mobile data), it doesn't want to download maps with proper speed

It wouldn't go past 200KB/s. Has anybody got the same problem? What am I to do?

The map install happens in two steps: first step is when Express downloads the map files to your computer. The second step is when the map files are copied from your computer to the GPSMAP 66i. The speed of the first step depends on the download speed of your internet connection, The speed of the second step is usually much slower because it is determined by the transfer speed between your computer and the GPSMAP.

So what you're seeing is quite normal!

Yeah I realised that actually.. but I thought the transfer speed of the cable is normally a bit better. Is there a way to do this map update by replacing the file directly in the microSD card? Waiting 11 hours for one update seems excessive, or like going back in time 20 years

Unfortunately not, the transfer speed between the GPSMAP and the computer is pretty slow…

I left it overnight yesterday, technically finished but when turning device on I get lat/lng grid lines and no maps at all..

Are the maps enabled? You can check this in Main Menu > Setup > Map Setup > Configure Maps.

When I went there, it was empty, hence I'm suspecting things didn't get completely installed. I'm reinstalling parts of the map using Basecamp right now
