One more frustrated GPSMAP 66i user because the energy saving Expedition Mode is not working (any more). The first season I deployed the GPSMAP 66i Expedition Mode it was working well. I travelled approximately 1000 km on foot and by packraft recording most of the time in Expedition Mode.
After this season Expedition Mode became very unreliable. Now Expedition Mode fails typically after 10 to 15 min. The devices simply shuts down and stops recording. I updated the firmware regularly but this does not resolve the issue. Also the latest firmware update (9.5) does not fix the issue.
I'm left with the impression that Garmin firmware is simply bad and unstable. That's also a reason why I'm hesitant to purchase new devices.
