What map downloads should I keep in my PC without wasting storage space?

Do I need to keep the files shown below on my PC?  What put them there?  And what are they?  Most of the storage space is taken up by two folders called "Map_Map.ActiveUS.2022.10" and "Map_Map.ActiveUS.2022.20"?  There are also some large subfolders called "cyclemapeu" and "cyclemapna" that, from the names, look like cycling maps that would be handy if I knew how to access them.  What are those maps?

  • These look like they were probably downloaded by Express, perhaps while attempting to update maps on your 66i.

I have no idea why Garmin chooses to leave them around. Would GUESS that if you were to remove them, the latest ones would be downloaded again if you ever need them. But that is just a GUESS. If you really want to know if it is safe to delete, open a support ticket.

If it makes you feel any better, I have about 46GB of this stuff :-D

  • Hello I will be locking this post as it does not have anything to do with the GPSMAP 66i but rather Garmin Express. I will be sending you a private message.

However, These are all map downloads that Garmin Express has performed. They are maintained on the computer in case the map needs to be reinstalled.
