GPS V2.90

GPS Software
Version: 2.90

• GNSS Software Release

  • for this we never had any changelog I think, would be interesting anyway

  • I find this revision to be more accurate (or precise, I don't want to go into religious wars :-p) right after powering on the unit. With the previous release, initial location was off by 10-20 meters, and slowly converged to the final location (I check against a previously recorded averaged waypoint)

  • it depend where you are. Where I start, it is on top of a 4 storage building, in a city area, there all starts with some 100m or more and going to the 3m within abt  1min if all other conditions remain same.

This only when unit was used frequently before and has actual satellite data saved.

Will certainly work slightly faster in open countryside where reflection is less of a problem then in city area. Also when it was not used for some time, the satellite data are obsolete and have to obtained first (from satellite) and this will take time.

So if you just switch the device off, and after some minutes again on, it works with known variables.

If it was longer time off, or it was moved far away and then switched on, variables will be invalid and have to be obtained again. It has to start with search for satellite even it has no idea how to search for it initially and has no idea which satellites might be in view.

so all might be subjectively faster just because it was used frequently before..
