Subscription change not communicated to device

Hi,

I deactivated my inreach subscription as i am doing some easy walking. However, my device does not seem to receive this change and still tries to check the inbox, which goes on for quite a while and drains battery. I connected it to all the apps and updated the software, but still this info does not seem to come through. Anyone any idea how to fix this?

  • First, are you sure the suspension has already taken place? It's only effective on the the next monthly anniversary of the freedom plan.

If you are sure it is suspended, sync the device. I can't tell if "connected it to all the apps" included a sync or not. If not, sync.

What does the device say about the plan? Main Menu > inReach Utilities > circle-i tab (rightmost). I don't know for sure that a suspension would show up here. But worth checking.

That same screen has an Update button. It's not documented. Was unable to find out what it does, but worth a try. Would require you to be outside with a clear view of the sky.

Also, I am not sure that having a suspended plan would cause the device to stop mail checks. The device HAS been activated. You could also try a factory reset. This loses all your user data. It also makes the device forget that it was activated. Then you can skip activation. This is a bit of a pain because you will be prompted to activate every time you boot. But it would absolutely eliminate the message check.

Best bet would be to open a support ticket.

  • Thanks for your reply.

To answer in short: The subscription is definitely suspended. The device is synced. The ‘update’ button does not work because it will try to sent a message all the time, but is unable to do so (as there is no subscription).  A factory reset seems like a ridiculous hard solution for this problem, so i will not do that. Thus i will open a support ticket.

    thank you!
