Birdseye Discontinued

Saw the Birdseye subscription has been discontinued. Does anyone know what this mean long term for the 66i and loading Birdseye onto it? Basecamp has been put out to pasture but I still use it so am also wondering if Birdseye will be done through Explorer or if it's going to be removed from the handhelds altogether.

No idea. The 66i is (or was?) capable of download BirdsEye imagery via WiFi without the use of BaseCamp. The Explore app can download to the phone. No idea how/if it then gets loaded onto the device.

I DID just succeed in downloading a USGS quad to the phone. Perhaps Garmin-Leslie will chime in. Otherwise, you are likely to have to open a support ticket to find out.

Ron M Hello, the Birdseye Satellite Subscription has been discontinued. However, Birdseye Direct on devices is still availalble. The 66i comes with Birdseye Direct and therefore will continue to function as normal. As you said you can still view the Birdseye downloads on the device, or in BaseCamp if needed. Download, View, or Delete BirdsEye Direct Satellite Imagery

What about other devices? I have a GPSMap 64ST. How can I get Birdseye on that device? Thanks

Unfortunately, you would not be able to get it on those units any longer.

That is unacceptable. One reason I originally purchased the 64ST was for the Birdseye feature. I still have the original box that advertises Birdseye capability with that unit. I'm requesting you provide Birdseye capability to my 64ST or...refund my original purchase price.....or send me a new unit that has Birdseye capability.

This is incorrect.

BirsdEye Direct imagery is only viewable on the device it was downloaded to originally, and is not visible in BaseCamp.

Garmin really should not have treated their loyal customers this way....

That is correct. I mispoke earlier regarding where to view the birdseye direct. Birdseye direct is only viewable on the device. Comparison Between BirdsEye Satellite Imagery and BirdsEye Direct.

I'm guessing existing products and subscriptions that include Birdseye will still work, but without imagery updates.
