Android App instead of Garmin Base Camp

I am wondering if is there an Android App I can use (instead of Garmin Base Camp) to convert a gpx file into a ROUTE (not track)? Or the conversion is only possible from a PC with Base Camp App? With route I mean the one my GPSMAP is able to navigate giving me advice of turns (so not a track).

  • You should be able to import the .gpx into the explore.garmin.com website on the Map tab. You can then export it as a route. Note, however, that long tracks will be "thinned" to 200 points when converted to a route in this manner. Depending on the topology of the original track, the result may or may not be suitable.

Nobody knows why the 200 point limit. Everybody complains. Garmin is adamant.

I believe that the Garmin Explore mobile app also has some functionality in this area. Not sure if it covers your use case or not.

  • What is the original GPX? A track? Simply copy to GPSMAP 66i, open Saved Tracks, select desired track, convert to Course, then open in Course Planner and convert to Route.
