Course alerts permanently on since updating to 9.60?

Recently updated to 9.60, now have course alerts seemingly permanently on when navigating? Highly annoying as they sound when off course by 10m and when back on course. Any idea how to turn them off? Course alerts while navigating was on the release notes for 9.60, but I think it's been poorly executed. They're nothing to do with the 'marine' course alerts, these are switched off on my unit and still no joy.

Just for clarity, this is in relation to a GPSMAP 66S.

I have searched at my 66i settings,but I wasn’t able to find a setting to disable it. Would be really a bad adding, if the user isn’t able to disable it (except in the marine settings, as you have mentioned).

Yes this is a new 'feature' with no means of controlling it in all recent device firmware updates.

I suspect new updates will resolve this. I hope.

Thanks for replying - I agree that it's a bad move adding this feature without being able to switch them on/off. Do you know how I can make a report to the development team?

Might try sending a nicely worded and detailed email to product.support at Garmin dot com

Hi Zac, I am experiencing the same problem with my 66s since updating to 9.60. I reported this to product support at the end of November. So far, no solution. They seem to be treating this as a problem specific to my unit, rather than a problem with the software update. They keep requesting more information, sometimes the same information I've already provided. They even requested a copy of the Garmin folder from the GPS, which I provided. They responded by looking for a screenshot of the off-course alert! I would urge anyone with this problem to report it to product support, the more reports they get, the more likely they are to act.

Hi this issue is definitely related to software updates released in November and affects all of the GPSmap66 , GPSMap86 , Montana 700/ 750 ranges.

It has been poorly thought out as far to sensitive and no means to disable, the same feature can be found on the fenix watches but can be turned off.

Surely Garmin have made an error by not giving any means to disable, it causes problems with units in battery save mode as they wil keep turning on the screen everytime there is an alert and as everyone is finding this can happen if you only drift very slightly of your course or track.

As many people as possible need to report to Garmin to push for a solution.

I landed here googling the same issue. Very annoying that you can't disable it! According to the manual, you can disable it under the Marine options, but I have it off there. Mine is a 66sr.

Not the same course alert, apparently.

Garmin is stubbornly refusing to add control over these new alerts to the Setup menu.
