Usage of GPSMAP 66 While Charging and Maximum Data Logged Points.

Can you use the GPSMAP 66 while it is charging? Also, while recording GPS data (speed, location, altitude), can you record this data indefinitely? ie, when you reach 20000 data logged points, will it start a new data log automatically? Essentially I want to leave this charging in a car and indefinitely record data until I am done or the storage is full. I would be capturing data once every second. Thanks.

  •  Hello, you can use the device while charging. You would need to change the interface, go to Menu > Setup > System > Interface (typically you will want it in Garmin spanner or serial). As far as tracking, yes, the device will continue tracking up to the 20,000 data points logged. Depending on how you have the device setup it will either automatically save that track when it gets full and then begin to write over it with a new track, or it will just fill up then write over it with a new track. It all just depends on the settings. You can go to Menu > Setup > Recording > Advanced Setup > Auto Save > then choose your option.
