GPSMap 66ST How to Point to Waypoint without roads

When out in a park I want to navigate to Waypoints without roads.

If I am on a trail it will give me only options to use the trail.

If not on a trail or if it can't figure it out, it gives me a calculation error.

One time I was on a trail and it gave me an enduring direction from my start point to the Waypoint How do I get that back?

Set routing method to direct in Setup menu

Thanks But not sure where to find that option. Under Routing I have Activity, Calculation Method, Lock on Road, Off Route Recalculation, and Avoidance Set up. None of those have Direct.

Calculation method had Minimize Time, Minimize Distance, Minimize Ascent, and Prompted. I have switched Lock on Road off and On. That seems to make no difference.

The very first option available under 'Activity' should be 'Direct'.

Since you are seeing the 'Off Route Recalculation' option, we know you do not have 'Direct' selected under 'Activity'.

Yes! That fixed it. That option is indeed the first option. I needed to scroll up to activate it.
