Purchased City Navigator Europe NTU for my 66i - updatable or not ?

I believe that current policy is that nothing is updatable except on automotive devices. On a 66i, you are stuck with what you have until you buy it again.

That said, I cannot find any support for what I think is true. I believe that the 7x0i Montana devices come with "lifetime" City Navigator. I think because this is considered something of an automotive device. Automotive devices CAN be updated even though handhelds cannot (or so I think).

Maybe somebody who knows for sure will chime in. The other option is to open a support ticket and ask. If you do, be sure that you clearly state the fact that you are asking about CN on a NON-automotive device.

Edited to add: Actually, I DID find something that says that reduced-price updates are not available for downloaded map products. I got here from one of the US topo products, but this page is not product-specific.

I landed in the same place from the CN US product. So I suspect it's not updatable on the 66i.

I believe you are correct,  no CN updates for handheld devices.

1. That is rather disappointing considering how much the maps cost, you'd expect some sort of updates for the money you pay. 
   
   

I'll hope someone from the Garmin folks can comment.

Garmin do state that Garmin maps you purchase do not get updates.  Only maps that come with the device get updates.

You can get free maps based on OpenStreetMap data for anywhere you like and can download newer versions whenever you want that work just fine with Garmin devices.

I doubt that you are going to get a comment from Garmin here. This is primarily a peer to peer forum. Garmin employees sometimes read but very rarely comment. If you want some kind of official statement (other than the link above), you'll have to open a support ticket.
