I seem to be completely confused on the role of the Collection Manager and how it controls what data is viewed on Route Planner, Tracks, and Waypoints on the 66i.
My Need:
————-
I want to load onto the 66i many (20+) day-trips. Each day-trip contains Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks that have nothing in common with any of the other 19 day-trips.
I want to select one of my day-trips and ONLY SEE the Waypoints, Routes, and tracks associated with the ONE collection I have enabled.
My Workflow….all 4 steps listed work fine.
———————————————————
Create a day-trip in an external mapping tool (CalTopo) with all the waypoints and tracks that I need to take on my day-trip. Generate a GPX file with all waypoints and tracks.
Repeat step 1 for each day-trip (19 other trips)…each with a unique name (Hike 1, Hike 2, …..Hike 20)
Import the each of the 20 GPX files, one at a time, into my MacBook computer’s GARMIN EXPLORE application as a Route (yes a Route…not a track…..so I can have turn-by-turn directions while navigating on the trail). Included in the IMPORT process I tell EXPLORE that I want a “New Collection”. I will end up with 20 Collections.
Sync the MacBook EXPLORE with my iPhone’s EXPLORE app….resulting in 20 collections.
Sync the iPhone EXPLORE app with my 66i……resulting in 20 collections.
On my 66i, I can:
————————
See the 20 collections in the Collection Manager, and I can slide the ‘active’ or ‘not active’ (e.g., ‘enable’ or ‘disable’) with the 66i’s ENTER key.
See all the routes from all 20 collections I’ve synced….BUT I cannot limit the routes and related waypoints or tracks based not eh enabled collection….all I can see are ALL 20 routes and 100+ waypoints in one long list…no matter what I seem to change in Collection Manager.
So…can someone help me understand:
————————————————————
Is Collection Manager suppose to limit the data viewed on Route Planner, Saved Tracks, and Waypoint Manager? In other words, if I only enable 1 of 20 Collections seen in Collection Manager (and thus disable the other 19)….should I expect the 66i’s Collection Manager to limit what I see in Routes Manager, Waypoint Manager, and Save Tracks to only those contained in that one single enabled collection (example: enable Hike 1, but disable Hikes 2-20)??
Assuming the answer is yes….then can you help me I am doing wrong in my workflow that is preventing the Collection Manager limiting what I can see in those other tools (Routes Manager, Waypoint Manager, and Save Tracks) on the 66i?
