save location msg as wayponit?

When I send a location message from one 66i to other 66i via IR, I would like to make a wayponit of the position in the message.

Can not find a way of doing it. Is there a secret?

(In delorme this is simply one of the menu items when handling a message where location is found )

  • OK, so this is another example of absolutely awful UI. Main Menu > Messages. Scroll to the message in question, Enter. Enter again (because why). Right arrow to the map tab (rightmost tab with the almost illegible icon). Menu, down-arrow to Review Point, Enter. Menu, select Save as Waypoint, Enter. This results in showing the Waypoint page. Menu, select Edit Waypoint, Enter if you want to change anything. You can also navigate to the waypoint from here just by Enter (since Go is already selected).

You may want to edit the waypoint name. It appears to reflect the sender of the selected message.

Lots of Quits to get you back out.

Aren't you sorry you asked? :-D

Note that this saves the position of the device when it sent the message. For a location message specifically, that SHOULD be the same as location IN the message. Point is that this works for any message which has a location - not just for explicit "send location" messages.

  • huuuuh!

    thanks first very much.

    This is in fact insane!

In my delorme I can delete , forward or save as wp directly while reading the msg

  • Did not try it with a newly received message. Best guess is that the first few steps above are redundant - you performed them while getting down to reading the message.

  • as I did place the Q also to support some days ago, today I received answer, but they had no idea how this can be done :-)))

The menu review point does nobody know abt its existence (there is nothing to be found in the manual apparently)

I allowed myself to pass them this info, so they ca educate themselves
