Firmware 8.50?

My device just got updated to 8.50 from 8.10 but there's no release notes on the official Garmin firmware page. Anyone have info on this release?

Although the page appears several releases behind, the notes should eventually appear here:

For now, if you didn't catch the notes in Express, or if your device was updated OTA, not much you can do about it.

Could be a localized or staggered release. I'm in Australia and just checked my 66i with 8.10 in Express and it says it's up to date. However I also have an RV770 which was updated to 7.50 back in May and even today Garmin Updates & Downloads still only lists 7.30 as the latest.

It is almost certainly a phased release. Being in the US, I have no idea about localized.

Devices can be subject to different firmware version releases by region, for example it's not unusual here to be differentiated with our APAC variants. Agree more likely to be a typical staggered rollout but I wouldn't rule out regional localization yet without more detail.

That's not the case here. 8.10 and 8.50 are both current in the United States. It appears the rollout is in progress.

I got the release applied to my GPSMAP 66i 4-5 (?) days ago in New Zealand.

Do you have to connect to the computer to do software update or will it do it Bluetooth?
