Route back to start?

I'm sure this is user-error and their MUST be an easy way to do this!

On all other Garmins I own (fenix, Edge etc), when navigating a route, there's an option to navigate back to the start - being pedantic this would be to the start of the activity recording, not necessarily the start of the route, although in most cases would be the same. On selecting you are given the choice to "track back" (ie. same route) or "direct" (ie. navigates you the most direct route), both useful depending on circumstances.

Yet I can't find this on the 66i?

  • Main Menu > Recording Controls > Map Tab (third tab) > TracBack button. This is for the currently running activity and does track back (retraces the track in reverse).

I am not aware of any way to route direct to the start of the track. You can do that indirectly by panning the map (same place - map tab of the recording controls) until the panning pointer (white arrow) is on the start of the track. Press Enter, then Enter on the Go button. Depending on how you have things set up, you may be prompted for the "activity", which determines how routing is handled. Ability to perform automotive (street) routing depends on the installed maps.

You can use that approach to route to ANY point from the regular map as well.

If you are actually following a route, you have the ability to reverse it and follow that.
