64s does not turn on

I use genuine Garmin rechargeable batteries, and I have never had a problem with my GPS Today, wanting to ensure my battery did not die while skidooing, I plugged a 12volt usb adapter into the skidoo outlet, and using a genuine Garmin cable plugged into my Garmin. My Garmin did not turn on, and it has not turned on since. I have tried new batteries, I have tried all resets. Ultimately it appears my 64s is dead. Has anyone else every encountered this My suspicion is a surge from the charging outlet, but I would has assumed the batteries would have taken the overload, vs hurting something in the unit itself. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated,

What happens if you plug in the device to USB power with the batteries removed?

Thankyou for reply, Every scenario of power returns same result, usb with no batteries, usb with rechargeable installed, no usb with new regular batteries. No response from unit.

If, after removing the batteries, holding power for >30 seconds, then connecting USB only, and holding power for >30 seconds, and still no response, I would say it is time to replace the device. Garmin likely will make you a decent offer for a refurb unit, or you can take the opportunity to upgrade to the new GPSMAP 65s, which is essentially a 64 with improved GPS capability, more memory, and preloaded TopoActive mapping.

I tried removing the batteries and it powers up but not completely. I get the Garmin name and the computer recognizes it by bringing up the files. But that's it
