I'm considering a 66i to combine the functions of my 62s and my inReach SE+. The inReach device spends most of its life in the USB power cradle mounted in our Jeep. I have the device configured to automatically power on when power is applied to the cradle, as well as automatically go into inReach tracking mode. This is pretty critical for us because we just want it to always be there and tracking and not have to think about it. Sometimes we grab the device out of the cradle when we go for a hike, and it would be nice to not have to carry two devices on such a jaunt, hence the consideration for the 66i.
I see that the 66i has an available USB power cradle as well, however, I don't see anywhere in the online manual that it mentions "turn on when power applied" or "turn off when power removed" features. I know they have made many firmware updates since the introduction of the device. Can anyone confirm that these features are available? I see that "auto track" is in the settings menu, which is great.
If the 66i can be configured to power on when power is applied, then I'm in for a new device, but if not, I'll stick to what I have. Thanks!
