66i won't connect w Moto G7

My 66i consistently fails to connect via Bluetooth with either Explore or Garmin connect.  Phone fails after it shows it has 'paired'.  In other words, once the phone says, "Finshing up . . . "  My 66i shows it recognizes the phone.  My phone shows the 66i connected in the Bluetooth menu.  It looks like the only thing that doesn't know the 66i is connected are the apps.

I have been in touch w Customer Support for almost two weeks with no resolution.

Here is what I have done:

Uninstalled/reinstalled all related apps.

Deleted GPS from phone and vice versa.

Attempted to connect w Garmin Connect only.

Attempted to connect w Explore first (which then sends you to Connect)

Cleared all cached/stored data for all apps.

Updated all software on phone and 66i.

Restarted both devices repeatedly.

Changed all app settings to allow both apps access to everything.

Initially, the 66i and phone paired easily.  I actually used it on one trip successfully.  Then, it just stopped never to pair again.

I have successfully paired with a Samsung phone but that is of limited utility as my phone also worked initially.

I suspect that there is some setting somewhere that I changed.  I denied it access to something and that permanently is blocking the repairing.  I am no phone expert but I suspect there is something similar to a regsitry like on Windows computers.  That setting is set there never to be changed.

Anyone experience this?
