Reduce density of topo lines?

Hi All,

I have a GPSmap 66i with the British Columbia Back Road Map books SD card.

With a fair amount of Birdseye imagery downloaded.

The zoomed-out view is completely obscured by the topo elevation lines everywhere.

Is there any way to set which elevation lines are visible at different zoom levels?

ie: 250m lines when zoomed into the 1.2km level?

Or even to toggle topo on and off quickly.

Thanks!

  • AFAIK, you cannot tie the topo lines explicitly to zoom levels. At least for some Garmin maps, they auto-adjust as you zoom. However, you can influence this behavior by adjusting the level of "detail". From the Map page, Menu > Map Setup > Advanced Setup > Detail. You'll have to experiment with the various levels in order to determine what works best for you. Note that this also influences things like roads. Keep that in mind as you adjust.

  • As twolpert said , it is not going to be possible . Another thing that you can do is make a .typ for the map . This is a visual effect that increase or decrease some polylines and countour lines like topo maps have . There are many forums about maps customization . And the final thing is do reverse engineering but this is forbidden
