62sc displays " Saving all waypoints, routes and trip log info in GPX format. 99% complete" and wont proceed any further . Power off and back on and it clears for a moment then reappears.

Any ideas how i can get this display to stop popping up? Power the unit off then back on and it reappears. Seems to only happen when power supply is connected and seems fine when using battery power.

  • This post is OT. There is no English-language forum for handhelds other than those which are inReach-capable.

The unit does this when it enters "mass storage" mode - that is, when it thinks it's connected to a computer (rather than a dumb wall wart) and is about to mount itself as a USB "drive" (or an MTP device, or whatever). It's exporting current data to .gpx file in case you want to use it in a computer program. Normally, the operation completes without problems.

Not sure about the 62sc. On some other handhelds, you can optionally avoid entering mass storage mode by setting the interface type to Garmin Spanner. When you plug it into a computer, it will ask if you want to enter mass storage mode. This is a band-aid, not a solution.

There is some sort of corrupt data on the device which prevents the export. Alternatively, I guess it's possible that device memory is full. Either way, you probably need to call Garmin support.
