Komoot and Wikiloc not syncing with 66i

I have a new 66i.

I have updated the firmware to 5.0 on the 66i.

I have successfully connected my 66i with my iPhone via Bluetooth and the Garmin Connect app, Explorer App, IQ app.

iPhone is an iPhone 11 on iOS 13.

I have been able to successfully sync my 66i and iPhone using the above apps to sync Routes, tracks, activities etc.

Inreach Messaging works (shouldn't matter).

etc etc.

I have installed the Komoot app and Wikiloc apps on the Garmin 66i via Connect IQ and also iPhone and signed in on the web as well. Both have active memberships.

HERE IS THE PROB.

Neither of the apps actually ever end up syncing the data that I am trying to sync. Routes for example. It says to the effect of HIT ENTER to download routes while in the Respective app on the Garmin 66I device (yes, they are actively paired and Garmin Connect is running the the background). Both apps have similar issues. the just sit and HANG for minutes.....many many minutes. Neither syncs, ever. Even with a tiny route that I made up, like .5 miles route, it never syncs.

I am wondering who has had success with the sync with either Komoot or Wikiloc (or both) and a 66i<---->iPhone

Hi Mark,

the good news first, the downgrade to firmware 5.4. resolves the issue. Both Komoot and routeCourse downloads are working fine again.

More then 2 month ago the Garmin guys managed to build this bug into the 5.5 firmware. Did anybody get an indication how long it might take until the next firmware version is out?

yeahhh ... Firmware 5.80 is out and finally the sync works again.

I was away on a trip for a few days so I was just now able to start the whole downgrade to 5.40. And yes, I agree the 5.40 works just find to sync both WikiLoc and Komoot.

So it must be a 5.50 vs iOS 13 issue that sticks it.

yesterday I called the German support team re fixing the above described problem with FW5.50. I couldn't believe that there was neither on the german nor the UK side a ticket open, to fix this bug.

Since you seem to be the only Garmin guy helping us in this forum, may I kindly ask you to give us a status and estimated fixing of this annoying issue.

There will only be a ticket if somebody actually calls support to report the problem. This is mostly a peer-to-peer forum. Garmin employees do read it and will occasionally comment. Even more rarely, they might take action. But the best way to guarantee a problem report is to call and open one yourself.

There should be a ticket, because I mailed it 9 days before and got a response , that they will take a look into it...

So glad I found this forum - thank you for all the reassurance and practical help here!~ I've been pulling my hair out with my new (two-day old) Garmin 66i trying not to lose patience and return the thing to the shop. I really want this to be able to work, as I like the Wikiloc routes and feel this would be a really good way to familiarise myself with the GPS before I go out of cellphone coverage! I'll keep an eye out for an update of the 66i firmware - if nothing in the next few weeks I'll try the 5.4 version...

Hi, based on the release history https://www.gpsrchive.com/inReach/GPSMAP%2066i/Firmware.html, the new version is released every 3 months, so the next one should come at the end of April. Though I have no clue whether the issue will be fixed.

I've the exact same issue. I opened a ticket at Wikiloc in early March and they informed me the bug comes from the 66i firmware. I tried komoot yesterday and had the same issue. I'm waiting on the fix from Garmin (not a downgrade of firmware).
