Have anyone seen status LED on GPSMAP 66i flashing red anytime?
Have anyone seen status LED on GPSMAP 66i flashing red anytime?
Can't say that I've seen it personally. According to the manual, flashing red means either below 10% battery or "device does not have a clear view of the sky." In normal inReach terms, the latter would probably mean that the device has something to send and was unable to do so in a timely way. The item to send might be an outbound message, a sent track point, a weather request or even an active message check. Active message checks happen when you invoke one manually and periodically automatically (except in expedition mode).
I tried to send inreach message being indoor, no red light though. Thinking, is my unit broken or user manual misleading...
How long did you wait? I don't know how long it takes the unit to decide that "the delay is bad enough to turn on the LED."
OTOH, I have never seen it myself, so it might be that it does not behave as documented.
Just few minutes ago. Will wait for a longer time. And also, will try to deplete battery below 10%. Then will see, is any red LED in the unit at all :-)
I would expect it to light the LED only after (at least) one "retry cycle". The cycle is fairly long. IIRC, it is (re)trying while you see the curved up-arrow in the status line. Between cycles, I believe that the arrow disappears. Been a while since I paid sufficient attention to the arrow, though.
Thank you twolpert you were right about waiting! After 10min. approximately, got the message on screen "Messages Not Sent Make sure the device has a clear view..." and red LED flashes Manual is ok, and my unit also. :-) Thanks!
