Suspending Subscription

So I own the 66i. Subscription renews tomorrow. Expedition freedom plan..My plan was to suspend it for 2 weeks as it's not needed then reactivate it with the Recreation plan as it's half the cost. But according to this message I have to keep the same Expedition Plan or choose a more expensive plan. I can only downgrade after another 30 days? So now I guess instead of suspending it I will downgrade to the Safety plan then bump it up to the Recreation plan? Bit of a hassle. Just thought I'd share.

Confusing. I thought they have written something different in the FAQs, but perhaps I don’t understand it correctly:

This is correct but it's not as evil as it looks. You pay in advance for each month of a freedom plan.

If you upgrade mid-cycle, your cycle start date becomes the upgrade date and you are charged the pro-rated difference between the lower plan and the new higher plan.

You can't downgrade until the current cycle is completed. I'm not sure why they can't apply the resulting overpayment to extending the new, lower plan. But they can't/won't.
