There are a few instances in which you may want to perform a master reset on your GPS 72/76 or GPSMAP 76/76S, including the following:
not receiving a satellite signal
restore the factory default settings
not functioning properly
All settings, user data*, and satellite data may be erased when resetting the GPS. For assistance backing up user data, see related content.
To perform the master reset:
Power the device Off
Press and hold Menu
Power the device On while continuing to hold Menu
Release all buttons once the Do you really want to erase all userdata? message appears
Select Yes
The GPS 72 / 76 or GPSMAP 76 / 76 is now reset. You may need to leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.
