Compatibility with GPSMAP 66

Despite the countless updates to the Connect Mobile app, you still can not export a GPX from Connect to a GPSMAP 66, which is still declared incompatible. When will we finally be able to load a gpx on a 66 from an idevice, when we are on an expedition (neither internet nor BaseCamp available) ??

  • I have recently purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 66 sr. What a pile of unmitigated junk! I've thrown it in my cupboard and instead will be using my mobile phone to navigate a two day enduro ride over this coming weekend. I will be selling this pile of trash as soon as I get back - I just feel sorry for the poor *** who buys it!

  • Are you needing any help with your device? Not seeing any questions in your post, so not sure. Thanks.

  • The GPSMAP 66 is a very useful and capable device…if you take the time to learn its settings and features.

  • Garmin Explore works fine for me when away from home, you can make custom routes and waypoints or import GPX files and it syncs to the cloud if you need it to.
I’ve never felt the need to use Garmin Connect or Strava for routes, I only use them for road cycling with my Garmin Edge and use BaseCamp and Explore for everything else.

  • I appreciate your response but no thanks, this device simply isn't for me, though I do understand that there will be others out there who find the product fit for purpose. I need the usability to plan and navigate off-road  routes and am finding that much easier accomplished with a combination of free web products and free Android apps; the Garmin software (mobile, web and device) is so shockingly bad compared to what is freely available that the one benefit that the device does offer, which is more refined accuracy in terms of GPS, is not a valuable enough feature to warrant taking the device with me when I go hiking, hunting or on off-road enduro rides

  • Thanks. I will request to close thread as resolved.
