66i Battery

I’m curious to see everyone’s thoughts on their battery. As I posted in the SD Card post, while I was downloading maps, I lost about 30%. As the other poster said, it’s not likely real world results and it’s best tested in the field. I will be watching mine and posting what I see, but I’m curious with others. So far I still feel it’s dropping quicker than previous devices, but time will tell.

Recording tracks for a few hours per day in expedition mode and turning the 66i off at night, I get at least a few days out of one charge.

Nice to know. I thought it just extended the tracking to 30 minute intervals.

Did you ever try just logging (tracking your route with no uploaded tracking) and if so how does the battery hold up ?

Battery life in expedition mode with Bluetooth, fit, Wi-Fi off is crazy good on my 66i. I can go a full week on a single battery charge sending up track points one per hour while walking five hours a day and powered on without tracking several more hours per day and sending four or five InReach messages per day, and spending a half-hour studying upcoming routes on the map each day.

Without expedition mode, I can still run the 66i more than day on one charge.

The only shortcoming I've found in expedition mode is that horizontal tracks are slightly less accurate and elevation tracks (profiles) are wildly inaccurate.

I love this device despite its history of quirky bugs.
