Poor battery

How is it possible for my brand new Z82 to end up with no battery at hole 16? It was of course 100% at tee off. Even only one whole round is too poor for a rangefinder this expensive…

  • Garmin recommends reviewing the suggestions outline on the battery troubleshooting support article for the Approach Z82 linked here: Troubleshooting Battery Charging Issues on an Approach Handheld or Laser Range Finder

There are some additional factors to also consider based specific to the design of the Z82, and based on your location:

    • If you are not seeing the LED indicator displaying a status, try holding the power button above the viewfinder lens to see if the LED indicator turns solid blue, to ensure the Z82 was not powered off. LED statuses referenceable in the link here: Status LEDs
    • Specific to your location: When golfing in cold weather, lithium-ion rechargeable batteries experience a decrease in performance when exposed for long periods of time to temperatures. For example, if the temperature is around 40F/4.4C or lower when golfing...the exposure to the cold air may result in a decreased battery performance compared to 70F/21C degrees with warmer weather being more ideal for battery performance.
    • Give the Z82 a full charge through a different charging source than the USB source last used prior to experiencing the concern with the battery not lasting the full round. I recommend giving a full charge through a computer. Test and see if you continue to have the concern.
