Garmin z82 approach

I have recently purchased the z82. I have a new samsung s22 with all new installed garmin golf app.

When I go to pair the device to the app it askes for pairing key. After entering  on garmin app it says "setting up you device" after a breif moment it's says error " cannot connect to the server"  

It does show in my devices on my phone now as being connected.   I have tried all trouble shooting to no avail.

  • There are a few steps that you can try to correct the concern, and further determine what is causing the issue with the Garmin Golf app accessing it's server. 

    I would recommend referencing the Garmin Support article linked here: Server Error or Network Connection Error in the Garmin Golf App which provides iOS or AndroidOS specific steps, along with other factors that can cause that alert to appear when adding your device. 

    Make sure that the smartphone you are using meets the requirements outlined on the Garmin Golf App Minimum Device Software Requirements Garmin Support site, to ensure your smartphone is compatible with the Garmin Golf app. 

    Other factors that can cause server errors to consider are the following: 

    • Ensure your smartphone does not have too many applications running all at once, which can bog down the computing ability of the processor in your smartphone. 
    • Check your total available hardware (not cloud or external storage) showing available for your smartphone. If storage is getting low to the point where your smartphone has 10 or less GB of available hardware storage, normal processes can also become affected or slowed down. 
    • Try clearing the cache for the Garmin Golf app, force close the app, then re-launch to see if that corrects the concern. 
    • Also clear the cache for the default web browser set for your smartphone, and check any VPN or advanced permissions for network and web access that may potentially prevent server access to the Garmin Golf app. 
    • Contact technical support through Apple or Android per your specific phone type, to troubleshoot potential other issues with an expert, to see if any other potential factors may be causing the server error. 

    If all of the above is considered, you can also contact Garmin Support to discuss the issue with a Golf Specialist to determine further solutions. 

  • I am also having issues connecting the z82 with a Samsung S22. Same errors as mentioned above. Have tried the troubleshooting steps and still cannot get the app to find the device.

  • I updated the software through Garmin express and was able to connect device afterwords
