Z82 wrong time zone

I've had the Z82 for about two weeks now, and everything is working fine except for it showing what I believe to be an incorrect time zone.  It's always one hour behind my actual time here in NYC.  I've taken it outside so the GPS can lock hoping it would update the time, but it doesn't, and there's nothing in any of the settings on the device to manually correct this (an oversight on Garmin's part, if you ask me).  The time zone settings in Garmin Connect are correct, but I'm out of answers as to how I fix this, so I could use some help.

  • Hello,

Have you connected your Approach Z82 to a home computer to install updates through our Garmin Express program?

Then install any of the updates available, as this will get the software, course maps, and any other updates available changes in time zone installed to the watch.

Yes, I had already updated to the latest firmware as soon as I purchased it last month, and all updates and courses have been updated as well, but it still shows one hour behind my actual time zone (EDT, NYC).

  • The time is set by GPS, and the Approach Z82 will only begin acquiring satellites when the Play Golf option is selected from the main menu screen.

You mentioned taking the Z82 outdoors, but there was no indication other than checking the system settings menu, and not being able to find any time options.

After selecting Play Golf, make sure the sky is directly above you to get the best access to satellite signal.

If issues with time are still occurring, then you would need to check for further updates through Garmin Express to check for updates. Contact our Garmin Golf Support team for further solutions as well.

Actually, I had done exactly what you suggested before, though I failed to mention it.  I selected the play golf option and stood outside for 15 minutes in the cold.  It acquired satellites and suggested nearby courses, but the time never changed.  Perhaps I wasn't outside long enough?

In any event, I'll try again sometime this weekend and see if I get a different result.
