S70 Club Suggestion - How to edit club name? It shows 2 digits

I have edited my clubs in my bag, however club suggestion shows only the 2 digit version, like SW

The problem is that I have a PW, a GW and then a 52* SW and a 56* SW followed by a 60* LW

Both the 52* and the 56* show as SW   so I don't know which one is suggesting

I can't seem to find a way to edit the SW  (I could change that to 52 or 56)

  • In the Garmin Golf App, open the Profile tab from the opening screen > Select "My Bag" > Then edit the clubs and nickname the wedge you want displayed as "52", then the club you want as "56",  and for the other club you want displayed as "60".

Then go back one page to the main Profile menu list and select "My Devices" > Tap the circular sync arrows icon next to your S70 in the list to make them spin which will sync the changes to your club list over to the watch.

  • You figure this out? I totally understand what you're talking about - you're asking for the name at the bottom of the watch screen to be 52 instead of SW.  Not the full name that shows after you pull out the club.  We need to be able to change the 2-digit name so you can read what Virtual Caddie is actually suggesting.

@garmin-cody There's lots of feedback here to unpack, but here's the use case so the Devs understand the problem.  S70 user for a few seasons, with CT10 sensors.  Just switched to Ping G440 irons, and Ping changed the lofts for 2025 so you essentially have a 5th wedge.  I have a PW, UW, 52, 56, and 60.  It's next to impossible to figure out what club is what with as restrictive as the app is in naming.  I went from a Callaway set that had a PW, AW, SW, 60.  Drives me nuts for a few reasons:

1.) Why can't I make the app show what's really on the club? Now I need a cross-reference list that:
    A.) S70 GW = Ping UW
    B.) SW = Ping 52
C.) LW = Ping 56 --OR-- Ping 60 - no way to tell what it's actually showing unless I name one of them some other random club that's not in my bag, like a LWH, then I need to know that LW = Ping 56, and LWH = Ping 60.  This is what the OP is talking about....

2.) Why do the club manufacturers insist on naming clubs different things (Ping UW vs Callaway AW for what's a GW in the garmin app)?  This begs the question on #1 above on why we are locked into these strict 2-digit names that don't conform with what's in the set from 2 high-volume manufacturers.

3.) Why isn't there an easier way for the app to swing from an old set of clubs to a new set?  There should be some type of mapper.  I can't just move the sensors, because the lofts in the Ping are completely different than what they were in the Callaway set, so the numbers are way off.  My new PW is like my old 9 iron, and that's why I suddenly have 5 wedges...
