Unable to see screen in daylight

Hi all

Recently my S70 screen has become so dim in the sunlight that I am unable to read the screen, let alone look at course map!

Brighness level 3 (max)

Always on Display : Off

Display : On

Any suggestions greatly welcomed as it is now redundant for the purpose for which it was purchased

  • Ensure there is not a screen protector installed over the display. Try turning the display down a little bit and compare the visibility of the display in non-direct lower lighting vs direct sunlight. Direct sunlight by nature will wash out AMOLED type displays where the best picture visibility is going to be away from direct light washing out the display.

Comparative to AMOLED displays, display types used on other Garmin watch models that offer sunlight-visible "memory-in-pixel" transflective display offer the best visibility in direct light, due to that display design.

Try also powering the watch off, and keep the watch off for over 30 seconds, then power the watch back on. Upon reboot, check the display behavior when used outdoors to see if that helps.

If you continue to have concerns. please contact Garmin Support to discuss the concern further with a Golf Specialist to determine further solutions.
