S70 Virtual Caddie

The virtual caddie feedback is highly questionable. Today on a shortish par 3 (155yards) it was suggesting I layup at a distance which would have taken me into a bunker! I’m a 5 handicapper, I am not looking to layup on a par 3.

Ive also found recently that despite taking a club out on my bag and replacing it with another. The caddie will still suggest the club that is no longer in my bag.

I'm a former Arccos user and the data was far more transparent, the feedback better. I just don’t trust that the average distance data is solid! Example, you’re playing a tight course, hit a 7i and it clips a tree and takes 35yards off the shot, I don’t want that counting as that’s not an accurate reflection of how I hit that club.

Help! A frustrated Virtual Caddie user!

  • from what i remember when i was deciding on a watch, the only difference between the approach and epix in terms of golf capabilities is that the approach includes tempo feedback during a round of golf and the epix does not. both have the tempo training activity but only the approach shows the tempo graph during golf play. i don’t wish i had that feature on my epix, it would be cool but i’d probably get in my head too much. went with the epix but i wear it 24/7 and golf with it all the time. also if it’s your first time using garmin on the course i’d watch some youtube videos and open a round on the watch to test the features. it’s packed with info and takes a bit to use efficiently on the course

  • The virtual caddie caddie is providing distances based on the club averages that were measured from previous golf rounds.

The average distance for the club it was suggesting is the basis for the suggestion, if you feel the distance average for the club is incorrect, then there are scorecards that need edited on your account where something occurred during the round that resulted in the incorrect distance for shots with that club to get detected.
