Putting - CT10

Hi all,

apologies for putting this here but don’t think there is a CT10 forum section. Just a small putting question. The manual seems to suggest the sensor cannot differentiate between a real and practice swing with the putter due to the increased sensitivity. If that is the case, does that mean I cannot take practice strokes with the putter before my shot?

also, what is the best way to tell the S70 where the hole is? Is it double tapping the screen when above the hole or is there another button I cannot take practice press when above the hole now I have the sensors installed?

thanks!

  • You can take practice swings with the CT-10 assigned and attached to the putter. The manual actually recommends doing this with the putter, while you are in the same location of where you will be actually putting from on the green.

You will want to avoid taking practice swings from any location other than where your ball is located at on the course...regardless of the club being used. Taking a practice swing with a CT-10 sensor attached club away from where the ball location can likely result in a swing being detected. If multiple swings are taking from the same location as your ball, it will track as one shot...prompting the watch to ask if there were any penalties if the stat tracking feature is enabled.

  • I personally have seen practice putting stokes be added and other times be accurate to the number of times I actually hit a ball.  I have had up to 7 putts added on the green by taking practice stokes.  I for one am a player that looks at the hole and swings the club gently until I feel and visualize the pace.  The CT sensor will pick this up and add it to my putts calculated.  Because I am keeping score in my head per hole, and putts are easy because we are all in such fear of 3 putting, this is easy to remember.  So I just check on the watch right before accepting Garmin's calculation.  I know this is the not the right answer and is just another thing to keep track of, but I wish there was a way to tell it you are about to putt.  Like a tapping the grip, or tapping the CT pad.  For me I just take a lot of practice swings and it seems like there has to be a way to solve this.

As for your question about the S70 with relation to where the hole is...I will don't think I double tap,  I look at the green and see about where the pin is, then I hold my finger on the screen and move it around while keeping my finger on the screen.  This gives me a few distance values maybe within a 6' circle or so.
