GPS sometimes thinks I am on the wrong hole.

If I hit a stray shot that ends up too far off the fariway and closer to anothers hole fairway, or if Im with someone who does it and we have to get off course the watch will automatically switch to the next hole and its throwing things off. I will go into settings and put the watch back on the correct hole but it will keep switching back to the incorrect hole or throw off the distance for the current hole I am on.

  • Sometimes due to the course layout, the automatic transition from one hole to another may be affected depending on whether the furthest tee box back for a hole is passed within a certain proximity.

I recommend referencing the Automatic Hole Transition on a Garmin Golf Watch support article for our content on hole transition.

If for some reason, GPS signal is affected due to environmental factors...like trees, other structures above, or cart tunnels resulting in the watch having difficulty pinpointing your current location, moving to an area with the sky directly above you will result in the watch getting an adequate signal to correct your location on the course map parameters.

Make sure to keep the course maps up to date by checking via WiFi through the map manager on the watch...or by connecting via USB to a computer using Garmin Express to update course maps to the most current version.

There are also some settings you can adjust on the watch to allow more signal access during the round by opening Settings > Golf Settings > Satellites > Change to All + Multi-Band which may help to better maintain a stronger signal throughout the round.
