Unable to pair S70 with Iphone

Hi , i have S70 for quite sometime. One fine day, the watch somehow unable to pair with my iphone. Kept getting the "We're having problems talking to the Garmin Connect server. Try again"

I have done multiple things as below:

- Restart Phone

- Restart Watch

- Reset Data on Watch and Phone

- Uninstall GGA , log out and log in again , remove S70 device from my account , remove S70 from bluetooth settings on my phone

- Tried to use another iphone to pair

- Connect watch to Garmin Express and updated everything

What should i do now? Should i just bring to the service centre? I am not sure if updating it to the latest software made it this way.

  • Removing from the watch from the iPhone settings app > Bluetooth > Tap the ( i ) icon next to the name of your watch in the previously paired device list for your iPhone > Select the "Forget this Device" option from the next screen > Tap "Pair Phone" in the Connectivity settings menu directly on your watch > Take a photo of the QR code and complete  the device setup through the Garmin Golf app and the S70 should pair with no issues. 

  • Hi Cody, I have already done all those. Brought it back to the AD and they swap a new one for me as they are also not able to fix the issue. The new one worked like a charm. Thanks guys.

  • Update as of July 24th, 2024: 

    Garmin is in the process of reviewing any reports similar to the issue on this thread for any concerns with your device pairing to the Garmin Golf app...or those having issues re-pairing the watch to their phone through the Garmin Golf app. 

    Anyone else experiencing this concern, please post here in the thread or contact Garmin Support to discuss the issue with a golf specialist, so additional information to be gathered to submit a ticket for further review.

  • Hello. I’m having the exact same error and have tried everything suggested. The chat agent believes its a setting on my phone. I do not and have followed everyone suggestion they’ve given.  My next step is to call. But I know  I’m going to be asked to do all these steps again.  I’m infuriated by the circular  response. How do I get to the next level of support. 

  • has this been fixed yet? i am having the same probelm, watch connects to Garmin golf app but not to garmin connect app.same error message as above, watch it approach s70 42mm

  • Good morning. Ultimately, I tried every suggested fix through interactions with chat agents and online. Nothing worked. I finally called the helpline and explained all steps I had taken. In the end, they replaced the watch. It arrived yesterday and within minutes, everything was working perfectly. 

  • Same  problems here but finally got it working.

    Settings wise:
    * the pairing iPhone must be set to "Always connected" and probably
    * you also need to remove it from your BT devices to start from scratch if failure

    Steps
    * You need to power cycle the S70 after every action and then some
    * Finally when almost working you also need to power cycle your pairing iphone

    Personally I had to power cycle the the S70 several times and my iPhone 16 Pro one time and then finally it works without issues and no need to return the S70.

    So, if you get stuck, just power cycle your S70 and probably also your iPhone once. If still problems remove from BT devices and start from scratch. Just remember to power cycle every now and then until success and afterwards all good.
