17.20 explain to me why we are expected to make effort to mark putt location.

Long time user of Garmin and I will continue to use.

I am stumped on the following.

1. Marking putt location on the watch. What is the point? I can't see this detail in the watch of the Garmin App. The information isn't used in the Golf statistics. What is the point of all this effort by me to enter data when there is zero data back to me. Why did Garmin invest all this effort in tagging put location if there is no value to the end user?

Is there a long term plan to use this date?

If there is a plan, can I edit this date in the app post round? The chances of  a user having an accurate data entry round is slim. To have good data, you need to allow clients to move pin and hole location post round. Without that, data will just be garbage and little value to the end user.

  • I just wanted to follow up on my previous posts. Felt it might sound harsh or angry.

I've now tried marking putts and moving the pin. Two rounds of doing this.

It actually is a very smooth easy way to mark these details on the watch. Works well. Garmin did a good job on this.

Post round, on a Par 3, I can see the pin location seems to be in the proper spot. I'd assume Par 4/5 as well but can't see green details without a zoom option.

Does anyone else feel like the pin location is being recorded properly?

Putt locations are not being shown post round in the app or the web dashboard.

Overall this almost seems like Garmin is moving in the right direction on collection data.

    Questions for Garmin.

    1. If I move the pin location on the watch, is that location saved and recorded?

    2. If I record putt locations, is that being saved and recorded?

I'd be open to investing the time to record all these during my round of golf, if the above can be confirmed. As well, if Garmin in the future elects to use this data for performance stats, will they use this historical data OR just start at a date in the future.

  • I did not find your original post harsh or angry.
Like many of us, you are just frustrating by the lack of proper feedback on all those accumulated data.

My feeling is that Garmin still want to promote the C10: if you want more feedback, buy the overpriced CT10.
Manual input won't give us access to CT10 functionalities.

  • Stupid question perhaps but do I just double tap the screen to do this? I've tried a few times but it's hard to know if it worked is it suppose to vibrate or something?

  • I believe you need to start your round and confirm/enable shot tracking.

When you step on green watch face will show green.

You can then touch and drag the flag location. Where you leave the flag is saved.

Putts are recorded by pressing the action button. The top orange color one.

It seems to me after a post round review, Garmin is saving the pin location and the location of the first putt. I'm able to see this in the Garmin app post round on all the Par 3s.

  • What is the little triangle on the green view in a orange color that floats around on the screen?

  • I think, it is your actual position ...

    Steps to mark putt location:

    1. While Approaching the green at the end of the hole, the flag location should be set prior to physically being located on the green.
    2. Then once you are actually located on the green per GPS, you can then access the green view from the golf menu.
    3. Stand in the location where you ball is on the green prior to putting.
    4. Tap the Action button located on the upper right side of the watch.
    5. Display will alert "Putt Marked" on screen.
