Flag position

It seems like Garmin changed quietly the flag position in the app according to  the double tap on the green function.

  • Thanks for sharing...
Will give it another try, though I'm not too sure about the benefit at the end (beside potentially more accurate distance).

  • Hi @ , which watch are you using? I midssed that feature - so you double tap while your are on the green, the screen of the watch as you stand next to the Pin?

    • I have the Epix 2. It should be the same on the S70. Open ‘green view’ in the menu on your watch. Double tap on the screen while standing next to the pin.
  • What is the benefit of this double tap? I make a chip and the ball is 6m before the flag. Why have I to go to the flag, make a double tap and go back to the ball??? If I'm at the chip position I mostly see where the flag is, I select 'green view' then and move the flag to the estimated flag position. In general I take care only of the position from the little location sign on the flag, exact distance ball to the flag is not important for me, putting is feeling ...

  • The benefit is that your putting statistics will be right, when the flag is marked at the right place.

However I understand your remarks, but it is not necessary to mark the flag before ending the hole. You can mark it at the moment you pickup your ball from the cup, as long as you’ll do it before entering/confirming your score on the hole.

  • Perfect, thanks for sharing this info ;)

  • @Gerd_NL true putting is feeling, but it's for the statistics after the round. I want to know how many putts from a distance I miss or make to see weaknesses.

  • Interesting about the putting. I thought Garmin Cody said that at this time, marking putt and pin location on the S70 will not be used in any data. The only putting data continues to come from the CT10.

Are you having a difference experience? I haven't bothered to even try the marking of ball/pin locations as Garmin told me there is no data from it. And no plans to use that as data in the near future.

  • Hi , good point.

Let me explain where my thoughts are coming from. I have the S70 and I think it's the best golf smartwatch on the market (by far). In fact, I only take it off occasionally to charge it.

However, I'm not at all happy with the statistics; Arcoss, for example, does a much better job here. But now I'm thinking of using the CT10 to optimise the input parameters for tracking as much as possible - especially when putting and chipping. In my opinion, the exact position of the flag in relation to the short game is also relevant.

PS: Dear Garmin team, your hardware and also the software on the watch as well as the statistics for other sports are excellent, unfortunately the evaluation and the dashboard in golf stinks in comparison ;) Maybe you want to work on it again :-D

  • I do not see the information about the put distance that is visible on the screenshot. (Using Android app and S70).
For me, registering put location and flag position is still a waste of time as there's no statistic attached to the generated data.
