Order of operations when you start a round of golf...

Got this for Christmas and love it so far but I still haven't gotten a straight answer on the proper order of operations when you start a round of golf.  I also can't get green contours to work and haven't been able to use them since starting my 1 month free trial making it entirely worthless...

What is the correct order?

A)  Start a round of golf solely from the watch and disregard the Garmin Golf app entirely?

B) Start a round of golf from the app, pick the course etc., then hit the top-most button on the watch to start the round from the golf so they sync?  This seems odd because I'm doing everything twice basically; I'm making selections from my app then making the same selections from my watch...

C) ??

I've been doing B but it seems counterintuitive because it 1) sends a message to my watch saying green contours are available and to open the Garmin Golf app to download (which is odd because the app is ALREADY open and I've ALREADY downloaded the contours for my home course), and 2) it gives a message to my watch face I don't know how to get rid of that says "Still playing XXXX golf course (fill in the blank with the course you are on).

In messing around with the contours I now have them on the APP on my phone but NOT on my watch face.... so even more confused than before.  What's the point of paying for contours if I have to use my phone to look at them vs my watch?
