My S70 is displaying the wrong weather data on my watch.

Version on the update is 2.16.  Android S23+ phone.  Weather is showing incorrect data.  Weather app on the phone is correct.  Tried reinstalling the Garmin Golf and and approved all persmissions.  Checked in my app management and made sure all permissions are correct.  Show's sync'd to app and phone just fine.

What can i do further to fix this?

  • Also powered down the watch to reconnect and nothing.  At a loss as of what to do to fix this.

  • also tried updating the location on the watch itself but still 10 degrees too high.  Confirmed location in phone weather is my location.

  • The following factors should be considered if you are not seeing the weather update correctly on your Approach S70:

    • Ensure you are opening the Garmin Golf app vs the Garmin Connect mobile app to sync the watch.
    • Check and make sure the proper permissions are allowed in your smartphone settings app, to allow the Garmin Golf app to send correct weather info to the watch.
    • For Android, the location permission for Garmin Golf in the Apps menu of settings should checked, or adjusted to "Allow All of the time".
    • If "Allow all the time" or "Allow only while using the app" is not an available option, toggle Location OnFor optimal results, enable Precise Location if available.

      1. Power your phone off and back on.

      2. Power your Garmin device off and back on.

      3. Open the Garmin Golf app.

      4. Allow your device to sync.

    • For Android, if using "Allow only while using the app" permission, the Garmin Golf app must be open and showing on the phone for the weather data to update on your device.

The Garmin Support articles for weather feature related concerns with the Approach S70 are linked below:

  • Went through this twice and did everything.  GPS location (on the watch under weather: Update location) also done twice and shows correct.  This is not working and watch still displays incorrect information.

  • My approach 70 is doing the same thing tried software upgrade, now it won't connect to garmin express, maybe garmin software has a bug my s62 was ok.

  • The weather updating is provided from your smartphone to the watch as a smart feature. You must sync through the Garmin Golf app > Ensure smartphone permissions are enabled > Follow steps outlined in my previous response.

If you are using a 3rd party watch face and the weather is not updating...you would need to contact the developer of the content for a solution to that issue. Garmin supports only the default watch face, weather related activity features, or default widget weather related features.

If you continue to have concerns, reach out to Garmin Support so they can get more info from you, and a live expert will guide you towards a solution to get weather working once again.

  • I’m having a similar problem that started this week. The watch shows the current temperature is 12 degrees. However, the high/low temperature for the day is correct (73/65). Even the hourly temperature is correct. The only thing that is wrong is the current temperature, and it’s not even close. Earlier today it showed 7 degrees, so at least it’s getting closer lol.

I’ve turned off the phone and watch. I’ve updated the software. I even did a complete reset on the watch, which added new problems. I couldn’t reconnect the watch with the phone until I found out I had to go into my iPhone’s Bluetooth menu and make it forget my watch.

I’ve since updated the software again, restarted the phone, again, downloaded all Garmin apps, again, and I’m still showing 56 degrees below the actual current temperature. I’m finding this watch to be not so smart for a $700 smart watch.

  • Update - I’ve done nothing at all with my watch since posting my comment other than wear it to sleep. That post was my last ditch effort and plea for help after exhaustingly searching for a fix for three days. I woke up this morning, and the weather is finally… close. The watch says 75 while the weather widget says 73. I guess the trick is to make snarky comments about the watch on the forums. I don’t know. The next time this happens, I’m just gonna smash it with a hammer and buy an Apple Watch.

  • I've contacted Garmin on this issue, if you are using a non Garmin face the temperature will be wrong, since I have gone back to an official Garmin face my temperature has been accurate.

  • Please, can you post then a video from the smash action here?
