First round with S70 did not record + HRM problems

I saved the round when I was done and all looked OK on the watch. Then, I noticed it hadn't synched to Garmin Connect, so I forced a synch. The round showed up for a few seconds but showed "0" in the scorecard view, and then just disappeared.

I also had a weird thing on my first Peloton ride with the new watch. The watch paired to my bike just fine, but the HR on both the watch and bike never showed going above 70, which was clearly wrong.

Any ideas how to fix these two issues? I'm coming off an S62 which worked flawlessly in both of these areas.

Thanks.

  • Once the scorecard has been recorded and saved directly on the watch, sync the S70 through the Garmin Golf app first before opening Garmin Connect mobile. The S70 primary app is the Garmin Golf app to sync the device, and then the scorecard will transfer to be viewable through the Garmin Golf app. All other activities recorded should then display in the Garmin Connect mobile app (if recorded through the Approach S70). Scoring through the Garmin Golf app is not needed unless using the live scoring feature...score should be entered and the card saved at the end of the round entirely through the watch directly vs through the app.

Also Peloton devices are not compatible with Garmin watches for recording information during indoor cycling sessions. Please refer to our support page in the link below:

Do Garmin Watches Work With Peloton Bikes?

Linking the device to the Peloton for HR information have steps included in the link above, for more continuity in recording indoor cycling sessions, selecting the Indoor Cycling activity directly from the activity list on the watch is recommended. Troubleshooting the connection to the Peloton bike and the displaying of information through their platform, we would recommend consulting with Peloton if our connection recommendation are being met.

Please also refer to our support page in the link below if you run into any concerns with HR during activities like indoor cycling, since the nature of the activity can sometimes affect wrist-based heart rate sensors recording accurately:

The Heart Rate Sensor on My Garmin Watch Is Not Accurate

If you have any concerns going forward, feel free to reach out to Garmin Support to discuss the concern further, or direct message me and I can gather some additional information from you as well to determine solutions after getting more info.

  • "sync the S70 through the Garmin Golf app first before opening Garmin Connect mobile."

what is the best way to achieve that? Keep Connect closed? I never had to do this with the S62. Will I lose any functionality?

Also, I wonder if the problem with the Peloton was I had not enabled broadcast HR in the indoor bike activity settings. Hopefully that will fix it.

    thanks.

  • The watch should sync periodically throughout the day if the Garmin Golf app is running in the background on the phone. I would recommend just opening the Garmin Golf app >Tap the picture of the watch at the top of the "Start Round" page to open the device menu > Then select the circular arrows sync button >Once the sync is complete through the Garmin Golf app, all info should transfer and display in the Garmin Connect mobile app per the latest sync.

  • the round still shows on the watch but it won't synch to the golf app

  • I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the golf app, but that didn't work.

  • Try connecting your watch to a home computer > Sync through Express to see if a wired connection transfers...also check the GARMIN folder in the device drive > Open the Scorecards folder and see if there is a .FIT file showing with a creation date matching the date the scorecard was recorded to see if the scorecard was saved to the watch.

If there is no .FIT file showing in the Scorecards folder on the watch storage, then that scorecard is lost from the previous round unfortunately...

You can recreate the round if happened to have kept a paper scorecard, or if you remember what you shot on each hole...but other than create a replacement round, the round somehow did not get saved to the watch from that day.
