small numbers for hazards. Thank you Garmin to help me made up my mind.

there were many complains numbers for hazards are too small to see particularly in bright sun conditions. The issue exist even in Large numbers mode. Until now Garmin did  not addressed this problem and not even recognized it is a problem.  I understand for majority of  golfers who have very good sight this problem doent exist.  But for older ones like me it disqualify S70 as usable golf watch.  I was thinking to sell my S70 on ebay and buy S62 or Epix (2) which both have big numbers for hazards particularly I own full set of CT10 which works with Garmin watches only/.  ultimately after couple of golf reviews I decided to buy Apple Watch and arm it with Golfshot software. Here what I received for half of cost of Garmin Approach S70+ 14 CT10:

- beautiful AMOLED display even brighter than S70

- autoshot tracking , the watch recognizes the shot has been made ( without any sensors)

- numbers are big and easily visible even to hazards

- since Golfshot works in  parallel on iPhone I have additionally many fantastic futures like Hole preview ( kind of animated movie how is best way to play this hole)

and many others

So After having S4, S12, S42 , S60 , S62 Epix, S70 I finally have to say goodbye to Garmin and it happened only because one small issue with small (hardly visible) numbers to hazards.

Small things decide in our life Slight smile

  • What's strange is that my experience is almost the exact opposite of yours. I'm also older (66). Coming from Apple watch. I tried both the S70 and the epix Pro (Gen 2) 51 mm. After a month I decided to keep the epix, mostly because of the large, beautiful AMOLED display. It is a very capable golf watch and additionally has a long list other built-in activities. Couldn't be happier with Garmin.

  • My first attempt to use Apple Watch was also not very successful.  It was Apple Watch 4. Now I use AW 8 which has always on display and shot recognition works perfectly well.  But AW is only a shell which require good software. I tried some and I noticed in some cases fonts are also too small for me.   AW combined with Golfshot gives something what I needed.  My point is having Apple Watch you are not limited to one software and you can find program ( Hole19, Tag Hauer Golf)  perfect for you.

  • Sorry, mine too ... i had the opposite experience .... had the latest apple watch and sold it cuz of only one thing.  The battery is terrible.  i wanted a smart watch not just for golf and i could never figure out when to charge it.  i wanted sleep scores and you have to charge it overnight, every night otherwise you cant get a complete game in.
