Tee designation

When starting a round of golf my s70 will ask what tee I am using. Sometimes it offers the options of tee 1, 2, 3 etc instead of colors lik red, white, yellow etc. Is tee #1 the closest or the farthest? In other words would tee #1 be equivalent to red (the shortest tee box) or the black (farthest)?

  • The tee box selection is in order from the tips furthest back list top (longest distance), and then scrolling down to the tee boxes further up (shortest distance).

For Example: So if 1 is red (400 yards), 2 is white (350 yards), and 3 is yellow (300 yards).

The Approach S70 will display tee box selection in order from top > Down as:

    2

    ...

  •  this reminds me of a feature request I have been meaning to ask for ...

Could the tee box selection screen also include the yardage for each tee set?  So instead of displaying something like:

    Blue

    White

    Yellow

    Red

perhaps it could display the yardage next to each tee set like so:

    Blue 7000 yds

    White 6000 yds

    Yellow 5500 yds

    Red 5000 yds

That would be a nice touch. Thanks. (edit: just submitted this as a FR).

  • I agree from a reference standpoint it would add more info...however, since tee boxes are the most adjusted part of hole the structure on golf courses (besides the flag placement on the green), it would be difficult to accurately represent a singular distance for users when starting the round from the tee selection prompt.

Many courses often have signage as players arrive at each hole giving a tee box preview with the colors, and a corresponding single distance value...but if you play the same course often, you'll notice the grass platform can often vary 10-30 yards for them to re-seed and move the tee line up and down the flat area dedicated for each box.

Since our devices are structured around provided three distances from the tee box, the specific tee box info included in our maps is not distance based...but simply selectable for handicap purposes.

For this one, submission through Garmin ideas would be best to outline more in more detail, or as specific as you would like to, on this feature being integrated with our product design.

  • I didn't mean variable distances, I just meant the generally published tee yardage information that each course has on their scorecards.  I figured Garmin has this information from the course mappings database.  It would just be nice to see the general length of each sets of tees so I can decide which one to use on a given day.

    Here is an example:

    https://www.cityofatlantagolf.com/chastain-park-golf-course/

According to the scorecard, this course has 3 tees:

    Blue 6570 yds

    White 6301 yds

    Silver 5120 yds

No need for variable yardages. Just the general published information is all.

  • Ahh okay, you are referring to total distance. I can submit your feedback for further consideration and review on our end!

  • Yes, just when first starting a round, at the screen where one selects which sets of tees to use. Would be nice to have that total yardage information next to the name of each sets of tees.
