I am not being asked if i hit the fairway or went left or right like i see on some of the YouTube videos or as per the manual.

if this is being done via the gps automatically why is it in the manual?

    If the watch was able to detect your fairway position, it will not request the fairway position within the stat tracking prompt after the score is entered. 

    If you review your scorecard on your account, the fairway position on each hole on the overview screen should automatically display the fairway arrow from there for you.

    You can also see this prompt manually if you enter the scorecard through the in-round menu.
