I would really like to be able to download and “preview” a course before playing so I can think about and plan for shot selection. Is there any way to do this on the watch or the Garmin Golf app?
if not, that would be great feature to add.

Currently only Garmin Approach handhelds offer the function of previewing golf courses from the map files installed to the device.
The Garmin Golf app may allow the user to download the course or use a…

Cody,
I would also appreciate this feature on the Gamin App (smartphone). Ultimately, I'd like to view each hole of a course I am about to play, just to get familiar with the layout and club selection…
I would like this feature too.

After some iterations, had to:
1. Delete maps on watch.
2. Uninstall Express.
3. Reinstall Express.
4. Resync watch.
5. Reinstall maps.
Then some local course maps started showing up. And, played a course previously missing maps that were then present.
Not sure about Garmin software testing process, but seems it should include some diversely configured devices. Maybe a CRC/verification is done, but not indicated in any form- just version.
The course selection is based on your GPS location.
The steps above would not be related to the feature request from the cgriffin, wanting the option to preview courses like our handheld devices offer.
Our watches will also offer the user the option to "Skip" from the locating satellites screen to load courses from their last satellite acquisition if they are playing another round at the same course previously played last.
Garmin Golf needs updates about preview mode which is very important to plan a match. Please also add function to have personal note each hole. Tag Heuer and Hello Birdie are doing very well about those features
Hi Cody. Please can you let me know if you have progressed with the preview feature as it would be so useful to use before golf trips. Thank you Steve
The feedback regarding options to preview golf courses on our golf compatible watches is not something Garmin has announced implementing at this time.
If any announcements regarding this feature become available, we will let users know in the forums, and in the "What's New" section of the Software Update menu in the System settings on the watch.
It is not for compatible watches. It is for Garmin Golf App only. It should be available for premium plan of Golf App

What forum is used for Garmin Golf app @Garmin-Cody?
This app seems to be minimally invested and maintained relative to the work done on the watches.
The watches now have high quality graphics Garmin Golf still runs with cartoons. The watches know our club distances and averages and allow us to model a shot on the watch screen, that information is all available but yet cannot be used on the phone (higher quality and larger screen format)
Compare this app to Bushnell Golf and it is years behind in quality of development.
Have been in the Garmin ecosystem system with a Fenix 3 / 5 / 6, Epix 2 and now use Epix Pro with the CT10 sensors. So as buyers we are loyal and do demonstrate patience …. But how much more do we need to show for a key use case for avid golfers?
i second this request.
