I would really like to be able to download and “preview” a course before playing so I can think about and plan for shot selection. Is there any way to do this on the watch or the Garmin Golf app?
if not, that would be great feature to add.

Cody,
I would also appreciate this feature on the Gamin App (smartphone). Ultimately, I'd like to view each hole of a course I am about to play, just to get familiar with the layout and club selection…
I would like this feature too.
Regards
Alan
You can download the course into the app and than start a round in the app - you can switch from hole to hole

The Garmin Golf app may allow the user to download the course or use a basic scorecard function during rounds...but is going to display limited info and detail of the course compared to the preview feature on the handheld devices and the actual map layout viewed on our watches.
I would like to gather some additional information from our users wanting this feature offered on Golf compatible wearables. Please keep an eye out on your inbox for my messaging requesting some quick additional info.
Thank you!
Thanks @Garmin-Cody !
You can preview Courses on the S70.
When you select play golf you skip the "wait for GPS".
You can then scroll down the list of loaded courses and "Preview" them.
Correct, that is one option to preview without being actually on the course, but limited due to the "Skip" option only displaying nearby courses to the location the watch acquired satellites.
cgriffin was referring to the preview feature we offer on certain Approach handheld models, which allows you to search any course by name, nearby, or by city. The touchscreen on the handheld then displays a keyboard for users to type to search worldwide course maps preloaded to preview the map layout, distances, hazards, etc.
The preview option was not possible on prior Garmin Golf watches due to there being no on screen keyboard integration to spell and search...but newer golf compatible wearable watches now feature keyboard features for typing, so a preview option may at some point be offered, but at this time there are no announcements on any plans to offer that at this time.
@Garmin-Cody yes that is exactly what I mean, but I was thinking one way the keyboard issue could be solved is by simply allowing the preview function for courses downloaded to the watch from the Connect and Golf app plus nearby courses found via GPS. This preview function could be in the Garmin Connect webapp too.
If I'm going to hawaii and would like to preview Kapalua, it would be nice to be able to download the Kapalua course map via Connect/Golf app and put it on my watch and then preview it from the watch or the Connect webapp.
Currently (with Garmin Golf membership subscription) all course can be previewed through the Garmin Golf app using the home tee hero function that coincides with the Approach R10.
So if you the Garmin Golf membership or free trial period is active in account subscriptions for the smartphone, users can also select the Home Tee Hero option within the Golf Sim section of the app, then any course can be downloaded with default distances and map layout referenceable.
Otherwise, we may at some point offer the preview option directly through our wearables devices, but no promises for that feature as of yet.
...it would be a very useful feature to have, like the Approach handhelds.
This would be a very useful feature. I have now been to two consecutive courses where the maps did not show up, but were on partners S62. Distances were correct, but no maps/hazards/etc.
I just bought an approach s70 and I really expected to have thisfunctionality available, if I download a course, I expect to be able to preview it both on the watch and the app to prepare for it before actually playing it. Having only the nearest courses available on the watch is not enough
