new band and first impression

I cannot understand why Garmin changed Quickfit band into fix band option. They explain on garmin.com band change is simple and easy .  It is not. To use my collection of quickfit bands I had to rget rid of  factory band..  Unfortunately I haven't got black silicon band so I had to buy new one.  It is ridiculous I had to buy new band to brand new S70

One more aspect of factory fix band is the watch equipped with it  looks like cheap plastic smart watch worth 100$.  Additionally you cannot lay it flat on table..

i still haven't tested the watch fully on golf course but from my first impressions I regret I didn't buy Epix 2  instead which is paradoxically better golf watch than S70

  • The 20mm and 22mm band design offered on the Approach S70 series features QuickFit 20 and QuickFit 22 band compatibility allowing for the pins included with the watch to be attached to the lugs for QuickFit band options to be attached.

If you have any QuickFit 22 bands from previous watches using that design, they can be installed to your Approach S70 (if 47mm edition).

The new design contours to the wrist, with the attachment end fully housing the pin to attach to the case lugs, and is priced lower than the QuickFit band accessories. The Approach S70 band design is the same design offered on the Forerunner 965 series.

it is clear. But first I have to remove original band and pins.  Then  i have to install pins and only than it is ready for quickfix bands to be used.  I did exactly like this and put original band deep into my drawer. I allso already bought silicon black quickfix new band and now I can use my all quickfix bands.

If you say it was garmin's original plan to sell stock of black quicfix bands then congratulation.

In the meantime I tested the watch on golf course and the only negative remark is as already mention on this forum:

distances to hazards are dispalyed with very smal numbers hardly visible in direst sun particularly when you wear dim sunglaces.  It is particularly anoying for golfers who use big numbers option.  Big numbers should mean big numbers not big and small numbers mix.

Big Numbers Mode only applies to the initial 3 screens during a round of golf. In hazards mode, we have to use small numbers to make room for the other items that are displayed on the map page.

  • this exactely where the problem is.  Person who uses big numbers uses it  because cannot see small numbers  without optic glases.

  • no you dont .  There is plenty of room to display bigger numbers.

    My dear friends from Garmin.

No No and No. When i want to see the distance to a layup point, i just want to see the distance - nothing else - and i want to be able to see big numbers. Here are screenshots from a golf watch a competitor sells:

    (a) Layup point with small numbers

    (b) tap on the small numbers on the left and you have them nearly on full screen

That's the way it has to be done! Period.
