What you need to do is: open the Garmin Golf app, keep it near your watch, and start the round on your watch and wait for the sync. Then you sit there and cross your fingers that you see a message on your watch that says contours are "downloading". There is no way to do it manually, or to see the progress. Then after a random amount of time, you hope the app reloads your round properly. This could happen after 5 minutes, or two hours.
If it all manages to work correctly, congratulations! Your green view will show contours for the remainder of your round at this one course. And if it doesn't work correctly (which happens a lot), there is absolutely nothing you can do about it despite paying a subscription fee for the feature. Have fun!
