s62 rarely ask what clubs was used and rarely records shots even after updating with garmin express.

as the title states, the watch is basically a score card and range finder for me now. i liked the idea behind a virtual caddy and being able to review each shot after the round. I have noticed that the watch almost never ask me what club ive just used and will MAYBE record one shot on one hole out of 18. IMO thats unacceptable for the price paid. I just recently updated the watch with garmin express and am still having the same problem. not sure what to do here..  I have ready a few other threads with similar problems and have done the update as all seem to recommend but do not have a solution. 

please help!

  • I should note that the settings are set correctly to allow for shot tracking, club prompt , scoring, stat tracking, virtual caddie set to auto, tournament mode off

  • By any chance are you using it in your right wrist?

  • I wear the watch on my left wrist

  • Make sure you are following the correct order of operations during the round, based on the settings features you have actively enabled on your watch while playing. This involves confirming the club prompt list that appears after full swing shots are taken to clear the screen before taking your next shot, confirming the score/stat tracking prompts after the score prompt to ensure putts/fairway/penalties are entered at the end of every hole prior to teeing off on the next hole, and confirming your watch has transitioned to the correct hole you are about to tee off on as you continue playing throughout the round.

  • Thank you, i feel that i do follow the correct order of operations when playing. i enter my score after each hole prior to moving to the next tee box. 

    only when the watch DOES ask which club was used will it register. there are many full swing ball strikes that end up in play and the watch will not ask which club was used. IF i see the club prompt i ALWAYS select which club was hit. i generally do this once i have moved to where the ball landed as i prep for my next shot i will select which club was used (if it prompts) and then check the watch for yardage to select my next shots club. 

    lets just assume that most users having this problem are in fact following the correct order of operations when playing. entering scores prior to moving on to the next hold  and clearing any prompts prior to the next shot. my problem isnt that i am ignoring prompts.... its that i am NOT being prompted to enter which club was used.

    with regards to the links you provided:

    i am not keen on manually adding each shot since the autoshot didnt work. i wont remember where each shot landed after the round to enter and why should i? i bought the watch because it should do it for me.

    the second link we have already covered. i wear on my lead wrist, i complete a full shot with a real ball on the proper hole and with my pre-swing ritual im sure the watch and my hands are settledfor at least the recommended half a second. 

    im reviewing other post and all i seem to be able to find is recommendations that users connect with garmin express, update and everything covered here... doesnt seem to be beneficial. 

  • The suggestions outlined in my initial response above are simply generalized to your post, and for others that may have a similar concern. So my reply to you was simply based only knowing a brief summary the issue, and no other specifics to assess anything further. 

    Also to hopefully offer some clarification, My thoughts when providing further was not to bias/assume users having the issue from doing anything wrong or right...I am just trying to ensure bases are covered in terms of common factors that may prevent the watch from detecting shots.
