Club stats and virtual caddie without scoring (with CT10 sensors)

I have a new approach S62 and the CT10 sensors paired on every club. (And an Z82 FWIW)

I want

  • A record of the rounds of golf I have played.
  • To see my club stats like average and max distance
  • The virtual caddy to recommend clubs

I don't want to score.

Garmin documentation says you get the things I want without scoring if you have the full set of CT10 paired, which I do.

I have played 6 times now and I am getting none of what I want. I have made sure all software is up to date and;

  • Record activities is turned on.
  • Club prompt is turned on.
  • Stat tracking is turned on.
  • Activity tracking is turned on.

The watch does correctly identify which clubs I hit with from the CT10s and measures distances correctly as I walk the holes.

There are 2 ways I should be able to end a round and save the data. From the watch or the gamin golf app in iOS, neither work. The watch manual says

Select end round
Select an option:
To view your statistics and round information, tap your score.
To save the round and return to watch mode, select Save.
To edit your scorecard, select Edit Score.
To discard the round and return to watch mode, select Discard.
To pause the round and resume it at a later time, select Pause.

When I select end round the only options are to pause the round or end the round. What I want to do is end the round and save all the data. I press end round and poof, I get nothing, it’s all gone, like I never played, no history of the round, no club stats and no data that virtual caddy can use to recommend me clubs. Also when I am in a round and I try to see stats from that round, the watch says I have to upload or enter score cards.

Garmin golf iOS app knows I am in a round. I press Save round or End round and it takes me to an empty scorecard with save disabled and the options are to enter the score, which I don't have and don’t want to do, or to cancel saving. So a dead end!

I cant even send a support email, the form does not work and there is no one on livechat!

How can I get

  • A record of the rounds of golf I have played.
  • See my club stats like average and max distance
  • The virtual caddy to recommend clubs

Without scoring? Thanks

  • First of all You need to register Your watch using Garmin Express installed on a PC. And create a user in the same program.

Then You need to pair Your watch with a phone using bluetooth..

The S62 does not have wifi, and is depending on bluetooth connection to a phone for uploading the data to Garmin servers.

The phone should have Garmin Golf app installed.

It is possible to connect Your phone to a pc using the cable also, and use Garmin Connect to sync the data, but a phone is much easier.

After You finish a round the scorecard should appear on Your phone in the Garmin Golf app on phone, or in Garmin Connect program either on pc or phone. There You can also get the graphical view of the shots with distance data for each shot.

    So in short:

    1. Make sure Your watch is registered in Garmin Express on Your user. Win / Mac pc required for the Garmin Express.

    2. Pair Your watch with Your phone using bluetooth. Install Garmin Golf and Garmin Connect on Your phone.

    3. Make sure scorecards have been uploaded when finishing round. The scorecard should appear in Garmin Golf app and Garmin Exoress.

If not, there are some disabled settings or lack of permissions. But start with 1 and 2.

  • You did not understand or address the original post. 1 and 2 are done. I am trying to get playing history, club stats and virtual caddy without scoring. So not doing point 3 is the whole point.

  • As far as I know there is no memory in the watches that keeps all scorecards, and calculate averages etc.

So I would assume You can not do 3 without doing 1 and 2.

That being said I have never tried it, so not 100% sure it's not possible.

    For instance, manual states:

Virtual Caddie: Allows you to select automatic or manual virtual caddie club recommendations. Appears after you play five rounds of golf, track your clubs, and upload your scorecards to the Garmin Golf app.

So for virtual caddie scorecards needs to be uploaded, and I'm pretty sure that goes for averages as well.

  • Hello everyone! Regarding tracking shots and the settings required to view shot shot data from rounds of golf recorded on the Approach S62.Scoring must be enabled to review your shot data after ending the round on the Approach S62. This is true both when using the S62 to track full swing shots with the watch only, or if using CT-10 sensors paired to a full or partial set of clubs.

Refer to support page hereAutoShot and Other Features on Garmin Golf Watches and Devices

The CT-10 sensors being paired to the watch simply automates scoring, provides average distances for each club when pulled out of the bag (after 3 rounds with scorecards synced using the sensors) and provide additional metrics regarding shot data, while streamlining the user from having to select each club prompt after a full swing shot is detected.

Another benefit of having the CT-10 sensors paired to all 14 clubs is that scoring is automated, so once you are leaving the green, the watch will have all of your strokes displayed for you, while separating your putts.

It is also advisable to enable stat tracking as well, to get additional metrics (outlined in support link above).

Scoring is required because the only way to view shot data is through the saved scorecard once it is synced from the watch to your Garmin account. If scoring is disabled, no scorecard will be generated and no shot information will be available from your round.

  • This is basically how it is but not how it should be. The software knows I have played a round an it knows all my shot distances. There is no good reason it should not record that, and make it available to virtual caddy, just because no score has been entered. They are (they should be) separate things.

"benefit of having the CT-10 sensors paired to all 14 clubs is that scoring is automated" If only it were true! The only thing it will do automatically is take over your watch annoyingly asking you to confirm your score with multiple vlaues you have to enter and buttons you have to press for every hole, "did you get any penalties? Yes - how many or no? How many puts? Is this the right score?" shut up and let me see the layout for hole I am on, I am not trying to score!
